“And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.” (2 Timothy 2:2)  At the end of the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus gave us the Great Commission “Go and make disciples…” Go and make followers of Jesus Christ. In this 2ndTimothy 2:2 verse, I believe that Paul is talking about making disciples and leaders – men and women like you and me who by faith receive the Gospel, who learn the broader spiritual truths that come from the Holy Spirit and the Scriptures, who are transformed by the Spirit, and then who pass along Gospel Truth to the next generation of Jesus followers. This is exactly what we should be doing as a Church. It’s at the heart of who we are as the Body of Christ. Let’s not lose this focus! We can do lots of good things as a Church. We can have delicious lunches and dinners and powerful worship services and intimate prayer meetings and successful capital improvement campaigns and offer all kinds of great activities that appeal to us and to the community. But… in the end… we must make disciples who pass along the Gospel Truth to the next generation. We can do that well. Or we can do that poorly. But to not do this at all is never an option. We must pass the baton of faith along to the next generation. if we’re going to make disciples and raise up leaders from among the people out in our communities where we live, work and play, we are going to have to commit to intense prayer. I’m talking about regular, intense prayer for the lost, prayer for the unchurched, prayer that pleads with God for the salvation of men & women. People out in the communities where we live, work and pray are the future disciples, future followers of Jesus who will become the future leaders in the Church! That’s exactly how it worked for my wife and I. We once were lost. Then we were found by a group of people who shared the Gospel with us. We believed and were saved. Then we were discipled into leaders. Let’s begin to seriously, intensely pray for our neighbors and for opportunities to pass along the Gospel Truth to them.  Pastor Randy
